Microwave Remote Sensing

In this course, different microwave remote sensing systems and techniques are introduced. It is designed for graduate students in Geographic Information Sciences and Remote Sensing. The course includes an introduction to Microwave Remote Sensing, SAR image processing, Interferometric SAR techniques, Differential interferometric SAR techniques, and advanced multi-baseline processing.

After completion of the course, students should:

  • Have knowledge on basic and advanced methods of microwave remote sensing.
  • Have an understanding of SAR image focusing and processing.
  • Be able to differentiate the advantages and disadvantages of microwave remote sensing and have an understanding for what applications microwave remote sensing is useful.
  • Understand the principles of interferometric SAR processing as well as differential SAR processing techniques.
  • Have knowledge on possible applications of SAR data.
